Cleveland Clinic, one of the world’s most distinguished academic medical centers, is seeking a Pediatric Palliative Care physician to serve as Director of its growing Pediatric Palliative Care program. The Director will have the resources and institutional support needed to bring their vision to fruition. This position offers the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative and engaging environment, supported by Cleveland Clinic Children’s Institute, to deliver exceptional care to pediatric and young adult patients while advancing education, research, and innovation.
The selected candidate will lead a vibrant and expanding program that currently includes three Pediatric Palliative Care physicians, two nurse practitioners, a nurse coordinator, and a dedicated social worker, with close collaboration with the Adult Palliative Care team. Pediatric Palliative Care resides within the Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and provides both outpatient services and inpatient consultation. The Director will oversee care delivered across multiple sites, including Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus, Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation, Fairview Hospital NICU, and Hillcrest Hospital NICU. Plans are underway to expand services to the Cleveland Clinic Akron General NICU and potentially to additional locations across Northeast Ohio.
The Director will lead a team that collaborates closely with a broad range of subspecialists, including, but not limited to, prenatal care, neonatology, hematology-oncology, cardiology, critical care medicine, neurology, and solid organ transplant teams. Consultations take place on Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus in both inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as at regional hospitals caring for neonatal and pediatric patients. The program also works in partnership with external hospice agencies to ensure continuity of care for patients and families throughout the course of serious illness.
A Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship is funded and scheduled to launch in July 2027. Members of the Pediatric Palliative Care team are experienced educators who contribute to the training of Adult Palliative Medicine fellows, pediatric subspecialty fellows, pediatric residents, and medical students.
A strong commitment to interdisciplinary teamwork, excellence in Pediatric Palliative Care, and outstanding communication skills is essential for this role. The successful candidate will be board-certified in Pediatrics and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. A faculty appointment at a rank commensurate with academic achievements is expected at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. Research opportunities are available through the Children’s Institute, including access to multiple pilot funding programs across Cleveland Clinic, as well as collaborative research with the Adult Palliative Medicine team and other partners. Quality and Continuous Improvement initiatives are supported by dedicated experts within Cleveland Clinic Children’s.
Cleveland Clinic physicians benefit from a collegial group practice environment, along with a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.

Cleveland Clinic was at the forefront of modern medicine when its founders opened it as a multi-specialty group practice in 1921. In its first century, Cleveland Clinic has introduced many medical firsts, opened facilities around the world and is proud to be ranked among the top hospitals in the country. Now, 100 years later, the vision of the founders remains Cleveland Clinic’s mission: caring for life, researching for health, and educating those who serve.
